In celebration of Barsuk’s 15th anniversary – home to Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism, seeing its 10th anniversary this year – Chris Walla will be performing a special show with The Long Winters, David Bazan and Minor Alps on November 8th at the Neptune Theatre. Tickets available now HERE.
In celebration of the classic 2003 album’s 10th birthday, Transatlanticism will be made available on vinyl after several years out of print via Barsuk Records. Both the vinyl reissue and a digital-only Transatlanticism – Tenth Anniversary Edition are set for October 29, 2013 release.
The digital Anniversary Edition – and the album MP3 download included with the vinyl – will both include the original demos for each of the album’s 11 songs, none of which has ever been released before. They are an intimate peek into the landmark album’s genesis, and many are drastically different from the beloved final studio versions.
Interested listeners can get the demos in four ways. In addition to their availability as part of the vinyl MP3 download and the Tenth Anniversary Edition, the demos will also be released as a separate low-priced digital release titled Transatlanticism Demos for fans who already own the original album. Additionally, the demos will be added as a special bonus to the download codes included in the Barsuk Years vinyl box set released earlier this year by Artist in Residence.

Chris Walla will be speaking on a panel about music and activism during the Future of Music Coalition Summit Tuesday, November 13. Stream it live online at www.futureofmusic.org at 5:20pm (est) / 2:20pm (pst).
more about the panel:
In today’s social media world, musicians are much more than entertainers – they are activists, educators and providers of news and information. From disaster relief to election work, building awareness for issues and engaging in philanthropy, artists are redefining what it means to communicate with an audience. Our panel looks back on this election cycle, what excites (and concerns) them about their activism, and reflects on what it means to be an artist and citizen.
